One week away!

@JCho still need your confirmation!

Looking forward to seeing everyone next weekend. Weather looks a bit on the hot side, more NYC July than early June, but since I’m traveling with my wife who doesn’t really ‘do’ the NYC walk mode much (thanks, Uber!) I guess it won’t be much of an issue…but no massive rain storm like last year’s Fine Wine Encounter event, where the incredible 360-degree view was socked in with rain for some time.

Hopefully Noreetuh gets back to me soon on menu so we can start planning what to bring (for those of us who have to ‘plan’ that)

Apologies - was waiting to confirm if I have to travel that Sunday night for work. Unfortunately I do so will have to bow out. Sorry to miss it!

Sorry to hear it, Erick!

From Noreetuh:

“Right now, the menu is:

  • Tuna Poke

  • Pork Belly & Asparagus

  • Musubis (galbi, scallop, spicy salmon tartare w/ caviar)

  • Grilled Iberico Rib Meat

  • Parisian-Style Ramp Gnocchi

  • Mochiko Fried Chicken

  • Taiwanese Flat Cabbage

  • Calamansi Glazed Roasted Duck

  • Assorted Desserts

let me know what you think!”

Thoughts, anyone? If that works for all, do we pick a wine theme or two?

there is often a lot of wasted dessert at end

I usually only eat the caramelized grilled pineapple. It’s outrageously good.

Their menu is very well tailored for Riesling (as you might expect), champagne and burgundy.

@RayChung confirmed you are in.

The Decanter folks made a reservation already, as they do every year…guess where? NOREETUH!

So they’ll stop by our room with some of the remaining big bottle/vintage wines that don’t get finished at the VIP party, upon which the Berserkers will descend and destroy.

Just now from Decanter, in case anyone wants a last minute lunch with Laura Catena

“As an aside, we just had a cancellation for 2x seats to the Laura Catena lunch. It’s been sold out for months so thought this might be useful to share in case of interest to anyone in the Berserkers community. Due to the nature of the experience (7 seats) and costs with the lunch we can’t offer discounts on this one, but it’s $165 a ticket (which includes $85 lunch), alongside some great wines and a seat at the table with Laura Catena. I’ve just made the tickets ‘live’ on the site again so a heads up should you like to share!”

With the current headcount + flybys, could we do: large format, any region, no infanticide?

New York City once again with the welcoming weather

Every time you come it rains! I blame you!

The Toddfather comes to town, the clouds weep

I made a condensed 5-page ‘guide’ to help navigate through the grand tasting. Includes all of the grand tasting producers grouped by predominant wine type (sparkling, white, etc.), and the last page summarizes the DWWA winner’s table bottles. Below is a screenshot, and below that is a link to it in my G-Drive if anyone is interested in downloading it. Note: the commentary in the doc was added by Claude AI.
