In honor of the NFL Pre-season this vintage is a big pass down the middle for me. I ended a bunch of verticals EP that I had from some of my favorite Chateau. Many Second growths are under or near $50 bucks and still I have no interest. The wines are tannic, angular and will need some time.
07 will even be easier.
Wow - given how often I post, I must have struck a cord with you eh?
In regard to the offending party, If someone is going to call me out and call me a ‘little shit’ while under a serious mental collapse, I guess the bike rack is warranted. The offending party has clearly shown that any retort was useless in vein. However, the verbal dribble was ‘pre-YouTube incident’ and of course prior to the FBI being called in - thus, show some slack. That is unless he is a friend of yours…
But, if my fellow namesake should have an issue with my posts, feel free to PM directly.
Anything to add regarding 06 Bordeaux? I asked the bike rack and it didn’t respond.
Lance, I’m sure you could pummel most of your adversaries. So what. John Z. has said some questionable stuff, no doubt. I should like to think that many of us could remain above the fray. Evidently not. Violence whether by you or your antagonist is un-cool, IMO.
I couldn’t care less about '06 Bordeaux. I DO care about community.
If you guys are going to spat in public, the least you could do is explain wtf you are arguing about. I feel like I’m watching a telenovella on Telemundo. Lots of obvious heat but no clue what this about.
I am waiting for Max and Posner to offer deals on the 06’s. What surprises me is that other retailers in the NYC area such as PJ’s have not offered much in the sales department.
Color me unimpressed… still $5/bottle more than I’m willing to pay (I don’t give a crap that it’s a few years later, these wines aren’t worth more than what I paid for the '03s).
We offered Pavie for $169 a few months ago. Still have not seen it cheaper.
We will be dumping our 2006s to our email list clients starting in September, as the bulk of what we have leftover will be in stock then and I have no interest in hanging onto them.
I pulled the trigger on some of the Barton and Smith Haut Laffite from Winex. Hopefully the prices come down a touch and there is an opportunity to cost average down a bit.
I haven’t seen as many deals out there as I anticipated this late into Summer considering. This time last year, it seemed the 2005 hype train was fulling trucking along.
---------Spat Definition Below (read if interested, skip if not)---------
As for whatever so-called ‘spat’ there may be - apparently Mitch has one with me. I don’t know Mitch any more then I know my local Starbucks Barista, thus my only beef comes from the stink eye I get from afar. And just like the Barista, I don’t take it very seriously…as long a you don’t spit in my caffeinated beverage.
However, for reference, in Mitch’s initial post in this thread, he made a reference to a ‘bike rack’ comment I made to John Z. from Silver Spring Wines (or whatever the hell the winery is) some 8+ weeks ago (pre FBI/YouTube melt down). I made a retort to one of John’s comments or threads, then he in turn called me a little shit/ignorant/etc. in which case I fired back with some thoughts and concluded it by stating that “I’ll see him at the bike racks”. As you can imagine, very much tongue-in-cheek considering I live in the Bay Area and will likely never venture near John’s turf. I can’t recall the name of the thread but I am sure it can be found pretty easily and the context can be provided.
In any event, from what I have read in this here thread, Mitch didn’t care much for my ‘bike rack’ comment as it appears he translated my statements in some fashion that would make me some bulletin board thug or tough guy. Thus he has stated he doesn’t like violence to resolve matters.
I’ll go ahead and let Mitch take it from here as that is about all the context I have…
