I have seen quite a few people on the board that have Grateful Dead themes pictures.
So, I was thinking about having an off line with the theme being " Grateful Dead", if you were to come, what will you bring and why?
Volnay and Barolo.
“It Must Have Been the Roses”
Maybe an Alsatian white blend with a touch of Pinot Gris
You would have to have plenty of August West wines! “My name is August West,…”. Wharf Rat.
A really old, tired, oxidized, over-the-hill Pinot Grigio because if you get high enough, it will probably be as good as anything else.
Oregon Pinot from “Four Winds” Vineyard
The other half found me stumbling 'round drunk on Burgundy wine. also Wharf Rat
Just found this wine as well
A wine that would be likable if you are stoned, but not if you were sober?
I kid, I kid!
OK, for a Dead tasting event…
Rhys "Bear"wallow.
Williams Selyem “Weir Vineyard.”
Williams Selyem “Morning Dew” pinot.
(I never realized the Williams Selyem/Dead connection before. (Maybe I’d bring some Rochioli Riverblock and we could change the words from Alabama Getaway. It works on syllables.)
Some “Ripple,” of course!
Holy cow!
I would bring some of this:
A trocken Riesling, because it’s super-high acid.
X2 on the Trocken cottonmouth Killers
My daughter is named scarlet. She could help serve the wine
Ripple.
Not a truckin’ riesling?
You’ll need some alligator wine on the table.
And, of course, a (dusty) bottle of red Grenadine.
Never appreciated the Dead so it would have to be a grape or region I don’t get either. Therefore it would be either a Sauternes, Sherry or a Shiraz.
Well I’m sure we’d be sharing the wines, but if it’s a Dead tasting we’re supposed to share the women, too. Not sure how that works logistically…
We could just agree that nothing from a certain vintage or older would not be “tasted.”
Really? Sharing womens? All those Dead shows and I never got to swap? I totally missed that part. I suspect that next you will try to tell me that there was some sort of drug subtext, too.
