De Negoce offer (Part 2)

Or someone can wait a bit and do a head-to-head 2024 to 2024. From the dN write-up:

“We signed on the dotted line for every ounce of the 2023 being offered, and also committed to the lion’s share of the 2024 – that will follow in a few months’ time (no complaints about additional aging, right?).”

I am not a buyer. I am long since doNe with them.

Yep, I still have a very bad taste in my mouth from dN 550……2 cases. :downcast_face_with_sweat:

Whatever this best wine ever was, it sold out

Basically deNegoce doing gods work

Speaking of 550 has anyone tried one of these lately? I thought it was so bad a year or so ago that it was not even worthy to cook with.

I had one a couple months ago. I promptly dumped 9 remaining bottles to free up some storage space. I did keep 1 in the name of science…

That’s impressive. I didn’t buy any denegoce after 401 except for 559 cab franc. I’m surprised to hear that something bulk could be such swill to require a dumping. That’s unfortunate.

I admire that! It’s likely never going to be yummy…:smiling_face_with_tear:
I’ll need to dump my ~18 remaining bottles of that swill. Unless someone/anyone wants it free?
Even though I am an external optimist, I must be realistic, it is YUCKY, :face_vomiting:.
Plus, I don’t drink Sangria….
A rare disappointment from dN. :man_shrugging:

We use 550 for cooking only. It chins that low bar since we only find it to be insipid and uninspiring. YMMV.

The 550 fiasco, coupled with no-notification shipping after weather holds, caused us to be doNe with dN.

I have a whole case of lot 550 in my storage. I can’t wait to come back to you all in 2031 (it was a 2021) telling you how glorious the wine now is!!! :folded_hands:

Had it in sequence with 429. 429 was good, 550 was bad. (Like a $12 grocery store wine…drinkable but not enjoyable. Had sips of it over the following 2 nights. On day 3 it seemed ok so maybe it will morph something better but I don’t think r will ever be great or even pleasant. I’m keeping mine for science/cooking/sangria.

Scott,

As a former winemaker any idea what went wrong with this wine? Was it just bad juice to begin with?

I went back and read the tasting note they had for it:

“Deep ruby in the glass, this wine opens with a stunning nose of dark cherries, wild blueberries, granite stone, and delicate purple florals, all seasoned with hints of black peppercorns and chili powder. A refined and focused palate entry reveals new leather, charcoal, and sweet tobacco before giving way to cherries and plums, all wrapped in medium acidity and velvety, medium-grained tannins.”

I did not get any of this out of the bottle I tasted.

Just curious if you or any others had any thoughts. I have eleven bottles I am considering dumping because I just can’t see anyway this will ever be drinkable must less enjoyable.

I have thought about this, and my best guess is the same as yours. Maybe, just bad juice originally? Unforgivable, kinda…
It’s certainly not as advertised, as you agree. I just can’t waste my time with this one. I will try another. With Low expectations…
I do believe that it’s fine for cooking, with lotsa garlic, mushrooms and onions in a hearty beef stew.
Win most, lose a few! :face_blowing_a_kiss: :wine_glass:
The flaw in dN550: MALFLAVORED :man_shrugging:

I didn’t get the email for this until this morning. I guess buying one case a year has cost me my status, but I assumed I still had days to decide. But it was sold out. Looks like it was Lang & Reed.

Lot 629 is not sold out, I just checked.

Lot 629 shows sold out to me, which seems crazy. Maybe your page didn’t reload, and showed the old version of the page?

More VIP shenanigans.

No, it’s sold out now.

Why do you think Lang & Reed rather than Larkmead?

I wish I could have ordered just two, so I went for six. Chenin with oak treatment is a chancy proposition.
