Definitely Bien Nacido, but who knows on the producer.

Vineyardist Cab Franc?
Sounds wonderful, whatever it is. A lil Boom Boom? Not sure that Vineyardist Franc is estate fruit.

Wish I could buy and drink everything but I’m gonna have to hold out for epic CamX opportunities at this point I think. Even still, ripe diamond mountain cab franc is probably great, if a bit monolithic early on. DN 559 is also diamond mountain CF and big style like this one but I think needs a few more years to come around.

When would you suspect the $329 dN L 559 Diamond Mtn District 2023 Cab Franc to be ready for opening? I have only found that it may be best possibly almost a decade from now.

Yeah, I opened one way too early and it was a black hole. I had forgotten I wrote a CT note:
“The underlying cab franc is really spectacular. Earthy and dense. It’s wrapped in a lot of new French oak tannin that is gonna need some years to integrate, but this could easily be a 98+ point wine in several years. Feels almost flawless and crazy that it was bulked out.”
I’d probably give it at least 3 years for the oak to integrate better but it might depend on your storage conditions. I’ll probably revisit in a couple months.

Thanks. I’m encouraged to hear this. I had kind of written this one off as a really simple wine but I’m terrible at guessing what wines just need time and which are plonk. Was very excited to order this and then equally disappointed upon tasting. I didn’t care for any of the (fairly expensive for DN) wines that were released in this general time frame and thought that it was mby just a different palette under the new mgmt team picking the wines. I’ve liked a few of them better upon more recent tastings but didn’t love any of them.
Even so, I think I’m passing on this latest Diamond Mtn in favor of whatever is coming next from Cam X as I feel like these have consistentnly been hitting them out of the park.

Well, for sure everyone’s palate is gonna be different. I was encouraged that the turned earth note of cab franc was present indicating that it wasn’t just overripe slop. It was a bit heavily oaked, but that will undoubtedly mellow. The challenge is there is a veil of unknown with all of these bulk wines. You have to imagine that either there was too much produced (that won’t sell), there was too much concern about time to maturity for appropriate DTC sales, and/or it didn’t meet their expectations and never will. Either way, I think this particular bottling has a long future ahead of it. I can’t say that about all the deNegoce bottlings, some of which have less structure than the 23 CamX releases I’ve had so far.

JDutko’s Lot 633 Viognier references BOTTLING EARLY SEPTEMBER, SHIPPING SHORTLY AFTER, but the webpage states BOTTLING EARLY OCTOBER, SHIPPING SHORTLY AFTER. i wonder which is the correct bottling date since I’d consider ordering this Viognier in September, but the last time we were to have something sent to us in October, de Négoce refused to extend our two case order with holding payment until November while we were traveling. The $600+ order had to be cancelled which was a bummer (refund issued). // I’ve emailed dN about this and will relay their response upon hearing from them.
Confirmed it’s early September.

Does it seem that each offering description is even more vague than the last? Each new offering seems to require an even tighter NDA than the last. “We can’t give you any clues, but the original wine is expensive, and you’ll like this one.”
