Anybodu have any thoughts on the 601 Moon Valley Cab they have for sale?

Certainly looks like The Donum Estate:

Up now is $149 delivered Lot 584 | 2024 Sonoma County (West Sonoma Coast and Russian River Valley AVAs) Chardonnay / I wonder how this will compare to Cam-X ‘Sold Out’ Lot 65 | 2024 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay which is also $149 plus $19 shipping?

I have to say, dN lot 584 sounds really nice! The Cam X wine sold out!

Scott,

Yesterday, I was being my slothful self, when the Boss announced that she wanted some wine. A few hours later, I hear from her “this is really good wine, you need to try this.”
I head to the table, and observe that she had opened a 525. I thought “hey, infanticide is ok once in a while.”

Your action to grab a “two-pack” was correct. In my opinion, it is an outstanding wine. It is slightly lacking in the tannins that would keep it great for say 11+ years, but for years 6-10 say 2028 through 2033, this will likely be considered an awesome wine.

Harry,

Thank you for the note. It’s great to hear that you liked it! I recently considered trying a Lot 525 | 2023 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. I think I will try one soon, currently 1 year & 5 months in the bottle. Why not? :man_shrugging: cheers :clinking_glasses:

EDIT: You inspired me. 525, on deck for tonight. My son, Cam, is turning 42! :birthday_cake: :tada: with Snake River Farms Black label American Wagyu Tritip :face_savoring_food: no one else here will drink this
.go figure, solo guzzle.

Up now is Lot 610 | 2024 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon ($299 / $2400)

Sounds like a nice one! I need some guesses as I have some rewards dollars to spend.

Here’s a clue for dN 610.
However, I don’t have a clue beyond guessing
.BV?
“a winery with a legitimate claim to having invented Napa Cab as we know it. For decades, this household name has been a flagbearer for the valley, crafting wines from some of its most venerated sites”

I mean it fits.

But are we supposed to believe BV is bulking out their Latour Private Reserve right now?

Oh how the times have chanced (at least on this forum). A “$200 bottle” for $25 would have flown off the rack 3-4 yrs ago (i’m specifically thinking of lots of 300 to 400 when there was such a scarcity
and then there seemed to be some options in the high 300/low 400) where we were happily paying $30-35 a bottle for lots that were stated to be $100-150 wines. At a different time I would have been all over this. But I still have a few more cases of cam x to be delivered and I’m just drinking wine a bit more intentionally these days (mostly 2018-19) and I still have a ton of that before I get to the 21-23 vintages.

I am tempted by this offer although I haven’t bought from dN since the final Cam releases in the low 400’s. It sounds like a great offer but then again between what Cam has been offering up and the glut of 2018-2021 wines I have from dN it’s hard to decide if the juice is worth the squeeze on this offer

Lot 392 2020 CS. One hour in the decanter. Really nice cab with no smoke taint. Too bad it is my last bottle because it is really drinking great right now

I have too much Lot 550 regret to give dN another try unless there is more info and better pricing

I’m ‘almost finished’ with dN because of lack of customer shipping service flexibility. Cam-X was more than willing to extend holding shipment for eighteen days while we were out of country. dN literally told us accept the shipping date or cancel the $600+ order. We cancelled that order and now have instead 34 cases of CX wines here or coming (several cases ordered as gifts and delivered to seven different states). To be truthful, after this dN calamity, I did order from them L 519 Tannat, L 544 Malbec, L 553 Cab Sauv, L 563 Petite Sirah and L 559 Cab Franc (as stated, ~ I’m ‘almost finished’ ordering from dN . . . . . . .)

It’s a shame dN changed so much post-Cam. My last order I did a chargeback with my CC company after dN fibbed my complaint off (delivery issue and leaking corks).

The crazy thing is, dN didn’t even fight the CC company about it!

So you tell me, the customer, that you are not willing to stand behind your wines and your shipping process (so effectively pissing off the customer), then can’t be arsed to even disagree with the CC company.

So if you know you have to refund me, why not refund me directly and keep me happy??

That was customer service fail 101 level stuff right there.

I am also “almost finished” with dN. As stated, the shipping inflexibility is a major reason. Another is the pricing. Even with the free delivery, it seems like there’s been a significant price increase over similar lots in the past.
