So jealous of your ability to buy six for 179 and then not buy six more for 120. Even with space at a premium I can’t make myself do that. These closures better be legit because I won’t be getting to this one for a while.
Thanks for posting.
Here’s one thing that boggles my mind: why would a winery post so little information about a $185 bottle of wine. The paragraph might as well say: Great bottle of wine. It’s red and delicious.
Glad the dN write ups have some thought put into them, even if they embellish a bit.
Still debating a case. And as others have said, excited to see something other than Cab.
In for 2 cases, the SMV Cab franc was very good, looking forward to big brother here
Had to buy. $100 less than my guess for this offering.
RE:#515
My plan was to tie myself to the mast.
i.e.:
In Homer’s The Odyssey, Odysseus ties himself to the mast of his ship/chair to hear the Sirens’ song and read the email offering without being tempted to buy #515:
Odysseus tells his men to tie him to the mast/chair and plug their ears with beeswax so they can steer the ship/computer/iPhone without being tempted by #515. He also instructs them to keep their swords on him and attack if he tries to hit the buy button, or, to back up the truck.
Odysseus is mesmerized by the fear of Non-Buyers Remorse and begs his men to release him.
However, his men keep their promise and refuse to untie him.
Consequently his men disappear and #515 is being delivered by FedEx to a local Walgreens.
No dreaded Non-Buyers Remorse on this small business Saturday.
Praise be to fancy booze….
Amen
You guys suck so much. I was on a strict no buying wine thing since my old cabinet broke. I bought a case.
Of anyone, Matt’s ears would perk up at an excerpt from the Odyssey
Somehow I had $28 credits, so I ordered a six at less than $25/bottle.
What I wonder is, when I open these for a group in about 6-10 years, will they think it is a pleasant daily drinker, or…?
You will open it, pour it in a fine burnished bowl with a share for the gods, and Zeus will honor you for your generosity as a host by granting you three wishes (oops, sorry, that last bit is a different myth). Or you could use it to get the cyclops drunk so you can grind his eye out & escape. I think it will be good either way.
In for a case of 515 - I hope. Shortly after ordering, I got an email from dN that order was flagged for state compliance - apparently VA only allows 2 cases a month from out of state(?) I’ve had 2 since 11/3, so hoping dN can run through on the 1st or 4th (depending on whether calendar month) and make it work.
I’m kind of surprised I’ve never busted that limit before. But too lazy to check.
States are apparently cracking down on this for some reason. It is per person so anyone else’s name in the house can be added to the shipping to avoid problems. Surprised they didn’t tell you this.
can send it to your wife maybe at same address?
dN is now compliant?
it’s not the states it’s dN
So, my question is related to the problem of abundance caused by my inability to say no to dN offers. I’m considering investing in some weinbox plastic storage units to store wines for in-the-near future consumption. I vaguely remember that some on this list have used them. Do they work well? They aren’t cheap (for plastic crates) and the shipping costs are also pricey. Any input would be appreciated.
Hi – we use weinboxes. They are sturdy and I like that they are flexible (you can move them around, stack them, etc. in a way that it didn’t seem most racking would let us do). It can be a little annoying when you need to access wine that is at the bottom of a weinbox, because even with the little access door it can be tough to see where the bottles are within the box and to get them out without a lot of jostling. In that respect, it actually works kind of well for folks who are buying full cases of wine as through dN since the bottles within a case are all alike…until you drink them down and need to merge cases. Nothing’s perfect, right?!
We would recommend them, we have reordered a couple of times as we needed more storage room. That said, if you have the room for racking, and don’t need the flexibility of the weinboxes, that might make accessing your wine a little easier. But we have no regrets, for our use case, and would do it again!
I gotta move to one of these states with 2 case a month limits.
Support just pushes excess cases to the next month. I should get my last 2023 wines sometime in 2030.
Thanks, Margo. I’m hoping to do mixed selections of wines so that may be a challenge, but still a major improvement.
This sounds like free LTS!!
