Cam referenced him and his Modern Wine Club in a thread about shipping to Singapore.
One theory is that they’re both in on the scheme and use MWC as a front to wash funds made from the wines we’ll never recieve. Another theory is aliens but that might be a thread drift.
Bottom line, don’t email Mike at Pride unless you want some blow back.
There is some speculation that the helicopter was just a ruse.
The true story, and there is deleted video somewhere, is that a giant (approx. 50 ft) gorilla was sourced from a private island to move the reefer. It didn’t go as planned. The unfortunate aftermath, including a fight with an equally giant ocean reptile, required some government intervention and suppression of the media.
There is some additional satellite data tracking the de Négoce yacht on twitter that geolocates it to a spot in the ocean near the ocean reptile. Coincidence?
I somehow ran across De Negoce almost a year ago and decided to give it a shot. I’ve always been a QPR type of wine consumer so Cam’s model was intriguing. After a couple of months, I stumbled on something that clued me to Winebersekers which put me under the influence of “you guys” in terms of considering purchases. Between Cam’s prose on offers and comments by again, “you guys”, I have now purchased over 25 cases (which is slightly above annual consumption). Lot 68 was the latest purchase when I had no intent of getting any at the moment. We are moving later this year so have put 12 1/2 cases in LTS but that wasn’t an option for this one but praise was too good to pass up. I want to thank all that post in this thread and “What De Negoce wine are you drinking tonight” for the educational comments on the drinkability progress of various wines even if some of those comments do prompt me to order wine when I am trying to resist . Cheers
Been away (both on vacation and trying to ignore DN emails in general) so I missed the offer. I wound up pulling the trigger on 207 today at $105 shipped after tax. Anyone have any thoughts on this wine? Guessing it might be a miss based on the price and the availability several days later, but hard to go wrong with wine at $8 a bottle!
There’s a good amount of chatter on it. Plenty don’t like it and find the acidity offensive. I like it with foods that pair well with high acid and drinking it cold. It’s a lemon/lemon zest and minerals white. No vanilla or butter notes on it at all. I get why it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but my wife and I enjoy it.
I’m with Kevin, we’re on our 2nd case, one T1 and other $99 shipped over the Holidays. Not our favorite, but very serviceable with the right paring. Much more Chablis than Mersault/Cali.
