Yes, just a typo I’d think. Says bottling not BOTTLED.
So much for “de negoce fatigue”. Sold through 500 cases in less than an hour.
I haven’t bought in a long time and bought a case of this WW Cab. I drink mostly WA reds and, if this is even remotely better than what $10 otherwise buys me for a WA State Cab, I’m all about it.
Waterbrook, maybe? Although, no, I don’t think they have an estate vineyard. Woodward Canyon does an Estate Reserve, but it’s usually more than $70 I think. Hmm…
Well, I made it a week without buying wine I have no room for. I’m just afraid that the 5 or so cases of DN I have on order will all get here at the same time.
No 87 Petite Verdot drop
This is a small little winemaker project lot sourced from the same winery in Walla Walla as the N.89 Cabernet I just released.
From a single vineyard in Horse Heaven Hills (McKinley Springs Vineyard), this Petite Verdot was raised in 28% new French oak and was intended to be the the inaugural release of this “tasting room only” selection. Other Bordelais varieties from this particular vineyard and produced by this winery sell for $50/bottle out of the tasting room so that seems a fair price comparison (I should add virtually every wine is “tasting room only” for this producer). Only 275 cases available and priced at a ridiculous $9/bottle, $108/case.
Deep ruby, just a shade darker than the Walla Walla Cabernet Sauvignon. True to the Horse Heaven Hills appellation, its opens with red fruits and gains weight, accessing the darker fruit as it opens up. Cherry and raspberry add a layer of plum and graphite with pretty powdered flower aromas coming to the fore. Wonderfully supple and smooth on entry with ripe, juicy, energetic fruit well integrated with almost unnoticeable tannins. Plush? Yes. Nevertheless, the structure is there and carries a long, resounding finish with good length. A unique offering with excellent complexity (winemakers hallmark in my opinion - always striving for balance and complexity), this is also a great everyday drinker and cellar defender and will be very approachable once its through bottle shock. Bottled 12/15, this wine should be drinking nicely for March.

Did this only go out to a subset of the list? Never saw the email…
Feels like a shadow release. Probably an email coming out soon.
There have been a few in the past, but not so much lately.
Just happen to see it on website…
Missed the Petite Sirah (again). The Petite Verdot is a nice consolation prize. Not easy to find and wifey is a big fan of the varietal.
Still available on the website
The Petite Syrah is back on the website, at least for now. Just ordered it
I have no idea what came over me but I just ordered the Petit Verdot. No idea what I was thinking or what I’m going to do with 12 bottles of a blending wine.
Petit not petite. Come on Cam!
And the sticker on the last Petite Sirah box said Petite Syrah, but the bottles were labeled correctly.
I feel like I’m taking crazy pills.
150 case of Oregon syrah just went up.
only 90 cases left
Ugh. I’m tempted because I bought #74 but too much wine. And of course if I don’t like #74 I likely wouldn’t like this either.
OG N.99 Rocks District/Walla Walla Syrah is the Reserve Syrah offering from the same winery as N.74 Walla Walla Syrah. The source vineyard is an estate property in The Rocks District of Milton Freewater. As the vineyard lies on the Oregon side of the Rocks appellation and we bottled the wine in Washington, we were unable to use “The Rocks District of Milton Freewater” on the label. I have no idea why this is, but it is. Rest assured, however, this Syrah is a single-vineyard-designate from the “Rocks” AVA (the label will say Walla Walla).
But enough bureaucratic hogwash, lets talk about the wine. This is fantastic juice, rich and ripe with an unctuous mouthfeel but supported by a brawny, chiseled structure that provides for depth and dimension. Retailing for over $50/bottle out of the winery tasting room, it’s an exceptional deal at $12/bottle, $144/case. Only 150 cases are up for grabs.
Deep ruby to medium purple in the glass. Meaty aromas of blueberry, blackberry and smoky rock are topped with a kiss of acacia flower and underpinned with more smoky earth notes. The wine is broad and smooth on entry with an unctuous viscosity well supported by fine tannins. Blueberry and smoky chocolate ride to glory on a long, lip-smacking, umami-driven finish. The yum factor here is huge and its just about impossible to just have one glass.

To be more precise, the Milton Freewater area of the Walla Walla AVA. Referred to as “occupied territory” by some., The Rocks by others.
From the description, sees more oak than most here appreciate, but I bet it is a crowd pleaser.
My wife loves the Syrah from the Rocks! We are in. Less than 40 cases left. This wine will need some time in the cellar…
I’ve been getting more and more interested in Syrah and had swore I was done with DN. Well I bought cause the price is right and the thought was L’Ecole although I don’t see a reserve Syrah on their site.
Now I would love to see a Rhone blend offered
Any guesses as to what this is?
This doesn’t seem to be L’Ecole, which means that the L’Ecole guess for N.74 was wrong. Anybody else have any suggestions? There’s maybe two dozen vineyards in the Rocks district.
Edit: I don’t think this is explicitly labeled as a “Reserve” syrah, since looking on cellartracker I don’t see any that would fit the bill for rocks district. Most likely it’s just a single vineyard designate.
