Normally, we pretty much see importers and small distributors who KNOW what we do (97.893% European wine) and, more importantly, what we DON’T do (spoofy, $$$ Cali / Washington stuff). But, today five different domestic winery reps came in without appointments before lunch and then even more after (we’re at 11 now) pitching wines that were fine but over priced and looking increasingly desperate as they did so.
Unlike Zombies, it seems they only come out in the sunlight so maybe I can talk to some CUSTOMERS now…
actually, zombies do come out during the day, and the only effective ways to take them out is a high velocity projectile to the brain, or severe blunt force trauma to the head which would affect the brain in a similar fashion.
We are looking for the sick and wounded to cull from the herd, Todd. One guy said he’d be sure to “get back to you about a real haircut on that back vintage…I could use the space AND the money”…
In a trade magazine today there is an article about a new marketing company that does short intense blitzes on brands and their slogan is “You may have layed off your sales force but you can’t lay off that 50,000 cases of Chardonnay in your warehouse!”. Love it!
