Share your thoughts? What type of Cabs are they, elegant or big and showy? Have the opportunity to pick up a couple bottles of the Estate & 1147 for a very good price but have never had them before.

Well that’s not all bad. Bob Egelhoff made the wine and even his Egelhoff Cab was good in '03. If the price is right, I would say go for it.

I can only speak to Elevation 1147 and I have had 3 or 4 different vintages and wasn’t overly impressed. For the price, I believe there are better wines out there. I have had Egelhoff Cab as well and wasn’t too impressed with it either. So maybe I am just not a fan of wines that Bob makes.

I had a 2001 DA Elevation 1147 a few months back, and it was amazing.

You coming east for 2.5? I could probably set up a pole in the back yard and you could show off your technique to everyone.

Similar experience here, enjoyed the 01 Elevation. The Estate Cab was good in 96 and 97. Most disappointing was the 98.

Agree better values can be had. However, if in Napa, visiting David is a real treat. time well spent. He’s a great guy.

I think Bob’s cabs are very elegant expressions of the grape generally.

I can only comment on the estate cabs of 96, 97 and 98. I was impressed immediately and bought a few of each. I have now consumed them all and wished I had not held any of them past 02. My .02.

The 01 Estate was also very good. I’ve got one left and am holding for its 10th b-day
