Dallas Restaurant Rec's Needed

I also posted this on the Epicurean Forum, but if it is OK Todd, I will post it here as well as this forum gets more views.

My wife and I are In Dallas visiting our daughter who is a college student here. Looking for some dinner recommendations. Someplace hip, fun, good vibe. A nice wine list, fun bar, and higher end food would be great (I.e., we are not looking for a burger or upscale pizza type place). Open to type of cuisine. Basically a good, fun place but not stuffy and over the top expensive. Have been to Nick and Sams in the past, liked that a lot.

TIA for your help.

Paul

P. Robert will know!
Sevy’s is pretty good.
I like Del Frisco’s meat better than Nick and Sam’s, but the “show” at N&S is great!

Oak in the Design Dist is supposed to be good. List is small and so so, but it’s down the street from Graileys. Steven Pyles is great, fun, and nice list that includes some hard to find/relatively obscure stuff. Charlie Palmers in the Joule downtown has a good list and good food. Cedars Social and Private Social are both great and have decent wine. Finally, Hibiscus is good and has a decent list. All of those places have great ambience, Pyles and Palmer will be more “adult hip” while the others will lean towards the wealthy slightly younger professional crowd.

Caveat, Suze is in a strip center by an Albertsons, a Scientology reading room, and a Ball’s Burgers (which is also BYO. ). Not a scene like the others at all.

+1 on Hibiscus - can’t go wrong there. Would also recommend Salum, Hattie’s (although it’s a bit out of the way) and Nonna.

Abacus and Fearings are also great but expensive. Nick and Sams is always good but if you are looking for steaks Bob’s Chop House is the best in my opinion.

I replied in the Food forum, but Abacus & Fearings meet your needs, but likely at the higher end of the price range if not exceeding it. Fearings would be my choice for lively atmosphere as the bar (Rattlesnake) is a great place.

I don’t eat steak out too much anymore after everyone here (and “back there”) turned me on to great beef sources and I bought my BGE. They’re all good, but N&S wins for atmosphere and a good location.

+1 on Fearings

Perry’s steaks on McKinney are a bit better than Bob’s and I’m a big Bob’s fan. Fearings is great but Rattlesnake bar won’t have much appeal for your daughter…it’s a cougar hangout, and everyone knows it. Great bar though. Love it.
