“Daily” Drinkers for Pinot Noir

Sure would be nice if Patricia Green would make the Berserkers Cuvee again!

That’s one bottling I’ve yet to try (in all seriousness, there are a few others :grinning: :wine_glass: )

If it showed up again for a Berserkers Day it would be an immediate case purchase.

I love these so much. I still have 3 left of each of the '13 and '14.
I don’t want to drink them.

Living in Alabama , distribution for much mentioned arent readily available in local shops or are simply not distributed in. I’ve had good success with ABC Santa Barbara (already mentioned) and Alma de Cattleya.

"I no longer work for the importer, but represented this for decades:
Domaine Goubard Bourgogne Cote Chalonnaise ‘Montavril’ - classic, pure, subtle, fragrant, for consumers looking for balance and harmony, not power. The current 2022 release is an honest 12.5% alcohol." Dan Kravitz

I remember this wine well, and used to purchase as much as I could get a hold of. One of the greatest red Burgundy bargains I have ever ran into. Is it still brought into the US Dan? Would love to try a current vintage, haven’t had it in 20 some years.

Looks like it’s widely available on W-S for $20-$25.

Thanks for asking. I first brought in these wines for a retailer I worked for in 1981. He sent me to France with a shopping list, which included a pallet of Bourgogne. I visited 11 producers. Goubard was the 2nd best and 2nd cheapest. You could repeat the process today with the same results.
Right now there are 251 cases available in the U.S., along with 65 of the Bourgogne Blanc and 81 of Aligote. All are astonishingly good and great values.
This is not a small Domaine: ~100 acres. But they are so firmly established in Europe (Hachette described them as ‘omnipresent’) that while they are happy to be in the U.S., they don’t push the importer.

Don’t sleep on Sun Break from @David_Patte , especially on Berserker Day. I am partial to the whole cluster Ariane but quite enjoy all three of the wines.

I don’t have broad tasting experiencing with Pinot at this price point, but I adore the J.Cristopher Volcanique at about $30. Released at five years of age. Earthy style which also has ripeness and fruit.

Ive been drinking the 2019, its been in the local market for around $21. I have no idea why or if this will be a regular thing, but its great for the price.

I still have a mix of 2+ cases from the 2013 and 2014 PGC Berserker Cuvées. If I remember correctly, Mr. Anderson sent a bottle of the 2013 to 5-10 PGC and Berserker enthusiasts prior to its release. I was a grateful recipient and opened the sample bottle with a wine group amidst similar Oregon wines. The 2013 was still drinking extremely well with my last bottle and I would anticipate another 5-10+ years based on my PGC experiences. I would grab a bottle tonight, but those wines are stuck in purgatory at the ex’s residence. Soon enough…
