Curious, what is your favorite wine to drink with prime rib?

Of this group, like the Lynch Bages, just a gorgeous wine that has never disappointed. Thought the idea of an aged California Cab as Keith suggested was an excellent idea too, Heitz Martha, BV Georges de Latour, Chateau Montelena, etc., an “Original” California Cult . . .

The 2000 Palmer is outstanding right now.

You’re out on long island? find an older vintage ('99) Bedell Cupola. Be a homer on thanksgiving. Why not?

Keith,
For me this may be my favorite post you’ve ever made. I agree totally.

A Napa Cab is always a good choice, but I will definitely have to try a Bordeaux. I could see a good syrah as well.

Keith is quickly becoming my favorite poster!

Let’s not get carried away…

Old claret, especially St Estephe or Pauillac.

I have enjoyed Bordeaux, cab, syrah, zin and CdP. I have a friend who prefers pinot/burgnady… I quess the answer is red.

Kim, I believe the real answer is…

…whatever you’re having! flirtysmile

Btw the 2000 Lynch Bages kicks major bootay.

Syrah or Zin, and please have real chunky horseradish.

One of the perks of not keeping Cellar Tracker up to date is that you forget you have some pretty wonderful wines tucked away. I’ve got about 3 years of buying that I still haven’t input.

Anyway, a few years ago, I brought a 1983 Palmer to a wine dinner where it was selected as WOTN. I immediately went out and sourced a couple more.

Soooo, to make a long story short, I’llbe going with a VERY mini Palmer vertical. The 83 and 2000! I can’t wait.

Thanks again for all the wonderful suggestions. I learn so much about this terrific hobby by interacting with all y’all.

Happy Thanksgiving - May your day be filled with joy!

Feel free to suggest decant times on the 2000! [wow.gif]

Awesome choices- they are my 2 favorite Palmers as I haven’t yet tried the '70 or '66 so judgment will have to reserved on those. Both are great wines- hope they show really well for you. Happy Thanksgiving to you as well!

i gave it 4 hours audouze and it was perfect.
