Curiosity About Chardonnay Preferences

Let’s say that you are willing to spend in the neighborhood of $150 for a bottle of Chardonnay. Your 2 choices are a current release of Corton Charley from a trusted producer or a current release of Aubert’s Lauren cuvée. Which one are you buying?

Aubert

Any trusted C-Charlie producer for $150? Coche for the win please.

Honestly, I’d take pretty much any CC producer over Aubert.

If I were spending $100+ on a chardonnay, I’d buy something from Burgundy. I drink more California chardonnay than Burgundy, and I’m finding more and more California chardonnay that I really like with each passing year, but there aren’t any California chardonnays north of $100 that I really value at that price.

All depends on what your tastes. For me, it’s a no-brainer: Burgundy

Corton Charlie.

CC

I wouldn’t pay 50 for the aubert

Boillot or Bonneau du Martray CC anytime…

You’d need to pay me to get me to drink it.

Corton Charlie for me

While I wouldn’t spend that kind of dough on a Chard, or pretty much anything else, I’d take the Aubert. I’d be pissed if my white Burg was premoxed.

Much prefer the CC, but with Premox, my purchases have scaled back to almost zero, especially at that price category.

Corton Charlemagne, Boillot if it can still be had at that price.

I paid less than $100 for Dublere CC.

there you go.

I think I’d rather drink a premoxed Burg than that Aubert.
My most recent glass became drain cleaner.

Calling the stuff in Aubert bottles chardonnay is a very generous characterization. I prefer “wood extract.”
