CT and 'cellar-peeking'. Ever done it?

Well, have you? I have on the request of the cellar owner (to pick something for a dinner or to purchase someting out of the cellar), and was curious who here has done so on thier own? Come on now, be honest. [1974_eating_popcorn.gif]

I have a few times, with those who are my ‘favorites’ or ‘buddies’ or whatever they are called.

I used to occasionally but haven’t in quite a while. Some of my friends have to ‘suggest’ what I might bring to our next dinner.

The only time I’ve ever done it was when a wine buddy asked me to cruise through his cellar looking for something to open.

This is where it is fun to use the ‘wines in common’ radio button so you can look at some of those big cellars of your ‘buddies’ and see what you have in common.

I frequently get brain lock on my own little cellar and have someone else pick something for me. At which point I then say ‘can’t drink that yet’ and go grab some young pinot. [suicide.gif]

I check out Pobega’s CT cellar when I am feeling bulemic. [foilhat.gif]

Over on Wine Library’s forum, there is occasionally a thread where someone asks readers to pick something for him to open that night. I’ve both asked and answered on this thread.

One of my friend’s said the same, “Here’s CT, pick any wine you want other than Screaming eagle”, the modest asian in me says “oh you are too generous, i wouldn’t know what to pick, just bring something you would enjoy.” heh.

Besides, you would just pour it down the drain anyway

I want to be able to peek at Parker, Laube, Tanzer’s CT just for the heck of it and see if we have anything in common. Maybe a few but I want to see what QPR wines they own.

I’m sure Bob uses “My Wines” and not CT. [rofl.gif]

True…or on the back of a napkin. Hmmm…I wonder which is more relaible.

That’s funny and ironic, because I check the Bulkin CT cellar out when I need to purge.

I’m sipping an 00 Janesse Chaupin as we speak Mike. I like it even more than a Mondavi reserve. [laughingneqw.gif]

Janwho Chaupwhat?

Jack, the 2004 Mondavi Reserve is awesome. [berserker.gif]

Mike, I will have to take your word for it. [drinkers.gif]

ditto what Rob said about the “favorite tasters” feature.
