2009 Domaine de L’Idylle Vin de Savoie Cruet - France, Savoie, Vin de Savoie Cruet (9/3/2014)
Really quite delicious on pop and pour. Minerals and faint lime zest. Starting to get a little funk in a good way - looking forward to last few bottles. Mountain fruit at its best a la francia. A Garagiste winner and <$10 to boot. -
2010 Ladd Cellars Pinot Noir Anderson Valley - USA, California, North Coast, Anderson Valley (9/3/2014)
Drank this one too soon - I feel like it needs a few years to lose its baby fat. Very fruit forward on night one, let it sit on counter for 2 nights and it did not change much. Reminds me of ripe rhubarb pie. 5 years will help I believe or drink now for the fruit. -
2011 Stolpman Golden Point - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Ynez Valley (9/3/2014)
Voluptuous. Full bodied but not over the top or in your face. Really quite good. -
2011 Rhys Alesia Chardonnay Alder Springs Vineyard - USA, California, North Coast, Mendocino County (9/2/2014)
Very oaky tonight. My wife enjoyed it I thought it was a bit much. Maybe a few years in cellar to integrate but not worth the $ now to me. -
2010 La Chablisienne Chablis Grand Cru Les Preuses - France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru (8/28/2014)
Lots of sap on night 1 & 2 but not quite firing on all cylinders. Give it a couple years in cellar? -
2010 P. Dubreuil-kFontaine Père & Fils Bourgogne Chapelle de Notre Dame - France, Burgundy, Bourgogne (8/28/2014)
Wow - really drinking well now. Cherry and earth, what’s not to like. Hard to put down - happy if this was last wine on earth. -
2005 Peay Vineyards Syrah Les Titans - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (8/23/2014)
Blue berry and black pepper. Cool fruit for sure but maybe a bit too fruity at this stage. Try again in 3+ years. -
2009 Weingut von Othegraven Kanzemer Altenberg Riesling Kabinett - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (8/21/2014)
Agree with Salil below - this wine is really drinking well now. Bright lime on nose and palate and wonderful balance overall. Yes it has some ripe fruit but the acidity keeps it all in harmony. Delicious. -
2003 Artadi Rioja Viñas de Gain - Spain, La Rioja, La Rioja Alavesa, Rioja (8/20/2014)
Great bottle of wine. Deeply earthy, dark fruits, spice. Double decanted for sediment into bottle and enjoyed for 2 hours. Worth the wait. -
2004 Nicholas Cole Cellars Camille - USA, Washington, Columbia Valley (8/20/2014)
New World all of the way. Too much of everything for me, couldn’t finish glass. -
2011 Evening Land Vineyards Chardonnay Edna Valley - USA, California, Central Coast, Edna Valley (8/20/2014)
Great stuff. Double decanted back into bottle and was very chablis like. Light on its feet but full of citrus flavors. Real deal and a bargain for $15.
