Croatia - best places for wine, best local wines

Thanks Mikael for the info. My wife and I were married on Vis, so we wont be back for a couple years, but have discussed heading back for an anniversary at some point.

We’re heading to Croatia in a week so good timing on this thread!

Vis is one of my favorite places Brian, must have been special to get married there!

Wish I was as well, where do you plan to go?

We’re flying in to Zagreb, a stop in Ljubljana, Slovenia, then a cruise down the coast from Portoroz to Dubrovnik.

That should be a great trip and sounds like you have everything taken care. Have a great time and I think now is a good time to be there with the tourist season having calmed down!

Vis was a beautiful island for sure!

Didnt get to spend too much time there, unfortunately, since the boat didnt dock until around 3pm.
Then it was off rushing to get ready, we got married on the rooftop of Fort George, followed by an amazing dinner at Lola.

Early the next morning we were off to Hvar, where yes, we partied pretty hard

See you there, we leave in 3 days.

In Dubrovnik now. Trying wine from a grape called Grk.

Fun to try a new grape at random (BTG choice) That I both enjoy and doesn’t have any vowels.

We found the whites to be very drinkable, the reds were hit and miss, especially along the cost. Quality didn’t really seem to follow price, a few times we ordered a more expensive bottle and it didn’t seem to be significantly better than the lesser priced ones.

Grk is definitely among the best grapes grown in Croatia, especially those grown in Korčula. Bire Grk is almost always a stunner, but one Cebalo Grk I tasted once was a superb wine as well.

Try to find a Prč next!

I completely agree - Bire Grk was a consistently great wine

I’m hooked on Bire Grk.

It’s really good juice
