2018 Bedrock Old Vines Zin:

At Peter Lugers.

This outdrinks it’s price tag as much or more as any wine I’ve ever had. Exudes class, with beautiful aromatics, lovely crunchy red fruit, bramble and currants on the nose, and a long finish. At $62 off the list this is just great value.

Krug 164 (from 750)

I haven’t had this from a full bottle since winter of 17, but it’s made some strides since then. Laser like acidity, fantastic palate presence, complexity and richness, with brioche and some lovely apple and Asian pear notes. Very long finish. Has immense potential but is great now.

Thanks for the note, I’ve been coravining a 2018 Bedrock Old Vine Zin this week, and it is outstanding. It clobbered a Bedrock Old Hill Ranch, and Bedrock Heritage, from a drinkability now perspective. Certainly the single vineyard wines should eclipse the OVZ in time, but for right now, it’s a tasty, classy wine.
