Corked wine under Diam?! Is this possible???

You can’t just drink wine, Brian.

So the box of screwcaps smelled like TCA or the caos themselves?

Interesting…

Is TCA more soluble in alcohol than water, I suppose?

Gee, so it’s not the cork. Who’da thunk?
Guess this kills the argument for the screw-cap crowd. [wow.gif]

A corked faucet and toilet? I assume the taint declined with time?

I once rejected a Columbia rain jacket because it was corked. Grabbed one from another box that had a far better nose. The somm thought I was crazy.

I assume the levels were so high because the raw material itself was the problem, which AFAIK is never the case with grapes. The first gin we tested was about 80 ppt, which is insanely high. (Wine is very corked at 5 ppt.)

How do you pronounce Diam?

Yes, it declined over time. Makes me so what reluctant to use bleach.

I pronounce it like diameter in my head.

Since the corporation is French, I’d wager it’s “d’yum”. At least that’s how I’ve always pronounced it.

On their website videos it’s dee-yam (but with an accent!).

It was the caps. They’re sealed in plastic bags(as you know better than I do), and the TCA didn’t pop up until the bag was opened away from the box.

Just wanted to report that I received a replacement bottle completely free of charge this morning. A big thank you to Ken and Erica for their excellent customer service. Can’t wait to crack this open after it rests for a little bit. Happy holidays indeed!
