corkage rules in Arizona

Thanks again!

Any recommendations on corkage restaurants near Tucson?

I believe Merci in Scottsdale offers BYO as well. Any new additions other than the ones mentioned previously?

This old thread was revived recently. In Phoenix/Scottsdale/Tucson, many of the restaurants are in hotel properties. Grab a few empty stems from the bartender in the hotel lobby with a $ tip. Move outside of the bar area to the general lobby seating, crack a bottle and enjoy. You can also then also walk into the restaurant with a full glass in one of their own stems. Cheers!

In Phoenix:

As previously stated:

Atlas Bistro (Scottsdale)
Merci (Scottsdale)
Basil & Garlic (Scottsdale)
Ristorante Guiseppe (Scottsdale) - make sure you double check the price of your full bill
Tutti Santi (Phoenix location on 16th Street)
Pho Cyclo

Have to call and double check:

European Cafe (Glendale)

Hi Joel- never heard of merci or basil & garlic… Merci looks like it is maybe more of pastry/coffee/lunch? Is Basil any good?

TIA

In addition to what Joel mentioned, if you’re looking for a super casual Thai spot with great good and that allows BYOB, check out Sala Thai on 32nd st north of Shea in Phx. No corkage or anything - they just pop the bottle for you

I prefer the food at Basil and Garlic over Ristorante Guisseppi.

Basil & Garlic: Food is my opinion is pretty good. Very, very casual …… think shorts/blue jeans. If you are looking for a more formal restaurant, I would say Tutti Santi.

Merci is hit and miss. Has more limited hours and they close early. Food is decent. Also very very casual.

Thank you for the added content. Will have to give it a try one of these days.

Elote - Jeff Smedstead’s place. Nice guy. I bought his cookbook and he was in the kitchen that night so he delivered the book in person and autographed it for us at the table.

+1

-Enchantment- go for a drink at sunset, can’t be beat as it sets over the red rocks right in front of you while you are on the patio (good food as well)

-Coffee pot- great fun breakfast spot.

-Indian Gardens Marketplace- great place for sandwiches (breakfast or lunch) and other great convenience like items. Not cheap but very good food. Located on your way into Sedona and not too far from Forks or Slide Rock or grasshopper point

-Local Juicery, awesome shakes, juices aƧaƭ bowls

With all these great tips, I guess I have to return!

Reviving this thread to see if anyone has any BYO suggestions for Sedona. We’ll be there in March with another couple and I’d love to bring my own wine if there are any good options.

Searching memory without much luck

In our experience, Sedona is a pretty unfriendly location for wine BYO. A few years ago, when we first started spending time here, I inquired at a few restaurants. Got a similar response each time – some variant of ā€œā€¦ AZ law doesn’t allow it ā€¦ā€ I stopped even trying here. Fortunately, most of the restaurants will do takeout, so when we want to open our wines we just order out and eat at our home.

I’d suggest your best bet would be to find a restaurant you want to eat at, and give them a call. Might get them to allow it informally. But I wouldn’t count on it.

There’s only one local restaurant I’ve heard does allow BYO – I assume that’s because they don’t serve alcohol. That’s the restaurant associated with the Adobe Grand Villas hotel. We’ve never been there, but this article indicates they are BYO friendly.

As I recall we ate at Elote, a kind of southwestern cuisine place and they allowed corkage. Very good for what it us but not haute cuisine.

Didn’t know that. That restaurant is about the hardest one in town to get a reservation at. Agree that the food is good. Locals know that you can call, starting at 3 pm, and get takeout from them to pickup at dinner time. We’ve had quite a few wonderful meals from them, on our back porch, watching the sun go down on the red rocks – while sipping our wines, corkage free! The Bosconia we opened last time was a hit!

P.S. - Not much haute cuisine in Sedona. Less than 10k residents, and 3 million plus tourists. They know their market…
