Need input on Wine Preservation

I’m just seeing this thread now. Al - But doesn’t CO2 form a layer over fermentation tanks because it’s heavier than air? It’s protective nature is that it’s constantly coming out of the fermenting must and pushing oxygen out. There’s consistent outward pressure keeping ambient air out.
