Coravin-Recall is official

My understanding is that the Coravin system is not required to be returned to Coravin, and that the remedy requires all users to receive a free “bottle sleeve” along with updated safety/usage instructions.

The “recall” is not actually the product return - just each purchaser getting a bottle condom, and safety stickers…

So, after one puts the raincoat on the bottle and shoots his load into it, does the Coravin Condom come off, or it does it have to stay on the bottle the whole time that the bottle is “under pressure.”

Would one need multiple Coravin Condoms? One for each bottle being treated?

Also, does the Coravin Condom come in “magnum?”

So you can tie it off for repeated uses with 375ml bottles?

Maybe you can.

If they were smart, they would sell advertising on the sleeves.

The bottle pressure returns to atmospheric as soon as the bottle is turned upright.

I don’t plan on bothering with the sleeve in any case.

I won’t use the sleeve either. Nothing to fill out, they will mail the “repair kits” to the shipping address given at purchase.

I don’t know, man.

I’m kind of picturing a Dan Aykroyd as Julia Child outcome.

Mags require the reservoir tip sleeve.

I would consider using the Coravin Condom if it were effective at stopping the proliferation of bottles in my cellar.

Even if you didn’t have to spend any money?

When using a Coravin, what is the psi that the bottle is at? I’m using an alternate system and the psi is 5 at most. I don’t see how that could break a good bottle. There’s always the chance that a bottle is already compromised and will break if you look at it funny.

What is the alternate system that you use?

It is regulated to be at 24 psi (plus or minus 2 psi). I gather it’s that high so that you don’t have to repeatedly pressurize, dribble out a little wine, then repeat.

It maxes out at 23 psi, but operates well below that level.

Basically it is a Wine Saver Pro hooked up to an argon welding tank that has a 2-stage regulator. I have the regulator set to about 5 psi.
