COPAIN O/L In The OC @ Fratello's (Laguna Niguel)--This Wednesday 12/23 @ 6PM.

Been a while since we did a Fratellos gig and also I’d like to bring some attention to the Copain wines so marrying the place and theme…tah-dah.

Given the recent talk about Copain’s style changes, let’s spend some time with the wines. My idea for this event is to make it about Copain so bringing a bottle of Copain is the only requirement. One or more per person, plz. Further, we want to highlight the recent vintages so focus on 2006 or 2007. I have plenty of older bottlings so some contrast would be helpful and I can help with that.

For now, post plz your commitment to attend and also what Copain you will bring. If you don’t have Copain, trade for a bottle or go source one. We do enough events where there is a mixture of producers and styles–this one is about Wells and where he is evolving his art.

Time will be 6PM, cost will be as usual, about 30ish bucks all in, tip and tax included.

you know I’m in (+1) as we discussed…and you or Robo can hook me up with a trade so I can also bring Copain…

I can trade you a 2007 Thompson syrah if you like. What do you have to offer, Frenchie?

Would love to attend, but as discussed I will be in WA. Look forward to the notes.

2006 Carlisle petite? You got one, you willing to say bye-bye my baby to it?

Damn Frank, how am I supposed to drive down 2 days before Christmas? [swearing.gif]

I hope you post a list of the wines, I will be shocked if Todd doesn’t love most of the Syrahs.

Come for the offline, stay a month and then ease right into Falltacular. See, my project management skills work seamlessly for your wine hobby.

Come on, chief - you’ve got to leave me with my ONE bottle of Petit Sirah!!

Ha [rofl.gif] . Can you blame me for asking? Don’t ask, no chance of receiving. Ok, so how about one of the 07 RM cabs. You have 4 of those and I own 2. A trade will, shall we say, balance out the RM universe. There is a bottle inequity with that trade so how about I put in a white Copain Roussanne for Heidi and a 2007 Copain Thompson for you. That gives us some diversity and covers you both. Should someone else want to put in a Copain white, then I can bump Heid’s to a red Copain of some kind, too.

Yeah great for my wine hobby, but terrible for my work ethic.

Todd will be shedding off all the italian stuff he owns once he gets his teeth into the 2007s. [basic-smile.gif]

Frankie… a warning. Please check whatever bottles Frenchbread gives to you to see that they are, in fact, full. He came to a lunch on Friday with 6 opened bottles that were each halfish full. So… trader beware…

That was for you, and your Mexican cabernet - I’d never do that to Frankie, and he knows it.

Looks to me like Wells has gone PINOT. headbang
Cannot promise to make it but will try.

6?! where were the other 5 half bottles of wine sitting!?

On our side of the table

Carlin & I would love to be a part of this. We can offer up the 2006 Copain Pinot Noir Tous Ensemble and the 2000 Copain Syrah Eaglepoint Ranch.

We’ve been kinda on-the-fence when it comes to Copain. We bought heavy in the past and since we don’t have a lot of space to lay them down, we end up drinking them way too early. We haven’t purchased the last couple vintages, so this would be awesome to see how the style has changed.

Also, Carlin and I may bring my Dad … it’s his birthday that day. If he want’s to come, does anyone want to trade another Copain for a 2000 Copain Syrah Eaglepoint Ranch? We’ve got two of those.

Robert, check out the TN in CT from Richard Jennings on this wine. Very interesting. Why don’t we do a trade? I can trade you a 2007 Copain Harrison Clarke if you like. That help?

Frenchie:

I can trade you out for your RM Cab. Believe it or not, I have none of those right now. I have quite a few Copains. Pinot or Syrah. Pick your Poison.
