Coolest wine lists in NYC?

great thread!! thanks, keep em coming.

ken - yeah, they are great. he did well.

It all depends on what you have in your cellar. I agree that conformist wine lists are prevalent throughout NYC, but I counted 62 producers on the Sparks list that I have in my cellar, and that’s without any double counting. In most cases, I have better vintages or better cuvees so your standard, which works well on a personal level, does not provide a useful standard for the group at large. I have had two bad meals at Sparks so I have not gone back in years. I admit that the list has a lot of interesting items on it that I do not have in my cellar, and will satisfy palates fro, those who like Big California and Aussie reds to those who prefer French classics.

The biggest problem in NY is the wine list that consists of Jordan, Far Niente, Conundrum, Opus, Caymus, Sonoma Cutrer, Ferrari Carano and special steakhouse cuvees like Kistler Les Noisettiers

Since when is Billyburg a pain to get to? newhere

Someone could open a restaurant and just stock a “cool” list by following a handful of people on Instagram or Delectable.

I haven’t been there since late winter. I loved the food the 2x I went- Great wine bar food vs blow out meal food.
