considering a Thanksgiving weekend trip to Willamette

I’m thinking about a Thanksgiving weekend trip to Willamette Valley with Friday and Saturday available for visits to interesting producers and good restaurants. I’m looking for visits that are more than the standard tasting room drop-in and restaurants with great local dishes and interesting lists. Suggestions are much appreciated.

Thanksgiving weekend is open house weekend in the WV, and its like a carnival. It is not a weekend for long conversations with wine makers or private tours. Better make your lodging reservation immediately if you have not already, and act fast on restaurant choices.

Reason enough to not go. Thanks for the tip.

T’Day weekend is pretty much a zoo in any American wine region from what I’ve seen.

Just an FYI, we always go the weekend before and not nearly as frenetic. Most wineries are open.

Plymouth! My wife is from Plymouth. There will, as Peter says, be a Lot of People out there. But if you pick your spots and stay north of Hwy 99 you can still have a good time if you take the right attitude. But not many quiet times, it is kind of a big party in wine country. If you go, Cameron, Belle Pente, Eyrie, Matello, are all good choices. There are many others. Pick places less accessible/open to groups. Book restaurants such as Tina’s, Nick’s, Thistle, Painted Lady, very early.

As others mention, the best plan if you want some time with the wine/winemakers is to get on some lists and go the prior weekend.
