Concorde Wine List (2000)

Not my content. From this post on reddit.

You go back in time and can pick one of each to drink then, not today: Champagne, white Burgundy, Claret, and red Burgundy. What are you getting?

Saw this on Reddit. Honestly I’d be hitting the Champagne list hard, then swing over to the DRC, with perhaps of the Leflaive en route. I certainly find the Champagne section the most exciting.

I was gonna say:

  • '85 Krug
  • '94 Chanson
  • '86 Beychevelle
  • '92 DRC

The Champagne choice is so hard with '85 Krug, Salon, Comtes, Churchill, and Heidsieck. White burg I’d think Leflaive or the Corton-Charlemagne. I’m not wasting time on the Bordeaux with that lineup. DRC seems obvious for the last category.

Good luck when you only have two hours at altitude and then land for your lunch meeting in London, lol.

Yeah, I realized that as well. I was thinking how this list would have me wishing the flight was actually longer. There’s always the return flight though, right?

Thats not an actual list offered for inflight service is it? They wouldn’t have that much inventory surely (was famously tiny), not to mention wastage.

I was lucky enough, as a 16 year old in 1989, to fly the Concorde with my grandfather. While I do remember having a glass of champagne, I have no idea what was on the list back then. I wish I kept a copy of the menu and winelist that we received.

Fits with other menus out there:

Also, from Jancis Robinson.

Seems to me there are shorter lists used for actual service and longer ones just displaying the wines currently available in total from the cellar.

Offering 31 different bottles for 100 people seems a bit nuts.

But anyway it’s always good to see these. I had a few bottles from 85 Krug from the Concorde cellar that were marked as such sold off after it all ended.

Yah, maybe you can tell them what you want on your next journey? Haha

No, those were the wines that were in the cellar but they only served four or five of them on each flight.

I flew in 97 and they served the 1990 Volnay les Chevrets on my flight. It was my wine epiphany.
