This afthernoon in my glas the Clos Mogador 2009.
Now a verry stiff wine, non integrated tannins, but i.m.h.o. great potention.
A sleeping beaty for the long run?
best regards
Harry
p.s. R.P. or J.M. points are 95-98…
what a big gap, can anyone explain such a difference?
And now in my glas the l Espectacle 2009 also from Renee Barbier.
Something completely different!
Wonderful rich, fruitjuice, with no anstringent (?) tough tannins.
In its youth already hard to resist.98 H.P. ![cheers [cheers.gif]](/uploads/db3686/original/2X/0/0ff9bfcdb0964982cd3240b6159868fbdf215b1a.gif)
No Renee Barbier fans on this bord?
I love Mogador and I think it competes with the best of Priorat for a very fair price. These are unusually structured wines though, after a decade when most of Priorat is hitting a sweet spot, Mogador still has a wall of tannin.
L’Espectacle is technically a Montsant but it overlooks the eight villages of Priorat. It might well be the most spectacular vineyard I have ever seen (and from the vantage point of a helicopter). I’d buy both 2009 Mogador and L’Espectacle without a moment’s hesitation (and that’s what I plan to do).

How would you compare the 2008 vs 2009 Mogador?
Daniel, are you asking me or J.Miller ![cheers [cheers.gif]](/uploads/db3686/original/2X/0/0ff9bfcdb0964982cd3240b6159868fbdf215b1a.gif)
I.m.h.o the Mogador 2009 is for the long run, and now not very accesable.
However, most young Clos Mogador suits me very wel.
After 1 or 2 years they go asleep.
My experience: leave them for a copple of years and you get rewarded.

p.s. disclaimer, I am a Priorato ![berserker [berserker.gif]](/uploads/db3686/original/2X/8/8600bbd4810d342b8fbd4ffb62b4f0026275fd37.gif)
Well, who better to ask than a Priorato? ![cheers [cheers.gif]](/uploads/db3686/original/2X/0/0ff9bfcdb0964982cd3240b6159868fbdf215b1a.gif)
Ultimately might be best just to go ahead and pick up one or two of each.
Daniel, 1 or 2 ???
Por favor!! ![drinkers [drinkers.gif]](/uploads/db3686/original/2X/8/82916bed5ad74ac8470bc04089d9758b0c80c9fa.gif)

For you Mogador experts, how long can I go before checking in on my stash of '01??
As I mentioned above, a decade is good for most top Priorat wines but the Mogador wasn’t quite there in an 01 Priorat horizontal last summer. I would give it a few more years.
