CLONYC 19- The many AVAs of Napa Valley

No worries, I ran a tasting group in MD so I know how it goes.

Think the 14 App should be drunk sooner, or will it ever come together?

Kinda surprised to hear it didn’t show so well. There is a tasting group in MD that loves high end cult Napa cabs, and they go gaga over this bottle.

Truth be told, it should actually be an enjoyable bottle, on its own, or with other blends. The recurring comment around the table agreed that the when some bottles (especially early on) are soooo good, those ‘merely good+’ coming after suffer.

The Georg Raphael really shined, so you can see why focus (or lack of?) can be sometimes misunderstood.

The 14 Appellations wine would be an enjoyable bottle in the $30-40 range, imo. It’s a nice wine even though not distinctive. Problem is the price (at least before it is heavily discounted) is well north of $100 per.

I guess I’m the lone dissenter. I liked the 14 appellations a lot. I think I had it first for the flight.
