Christmas Eve Dinner at Shibumi Ramenya

Yesterday evening we decided to go to dinner at Shibumi. We arrived to a mostly full restaurant at 5:30pm. We were seated at our usual seats at the end of the bar. We started with a glass each of Yuki no Bosha Junmai Ginjo sake. At this time Eric was preparing hamachi sashimi. We were served three nice large pieces of hamachi sashimi and three finely chopped up sashimi on cucumber. We next ordered a glass each of Akishika Junmai Muroka Nama Genshu sake. After a bit we got uni sashimi, three pieces of nice fresh uni on cucumber. Then we got a complimentary smoked salmon, cucumber and avocado salad in a yuzu dressing and a 300ml bottle of Manabito Kimoto Junmai Ginjo sake. Then we got a daikon, natto, and quail egg mix that was very good. Then we ordered the Christmas special a lovely rich Duck soup - nice pieces of duck breast, leg, and wing meat in a a rich dark duck broth with ramen. Partway through the rich soup we got a 300ml bottle of Watari Bune Junmai Ginjo sake. It was very nice with the end of the soup. Since we had gotten a lovely pecan pie from the Halls, we didn’t have dessert at Shibumi, we each had a small piece of pie at home.
