Chicken, Vegetable, and Pearl Pasta Soup with Barolo

Last night, after Cabe Martinez was here helping us do things, we were too tired for anything but soup. We had Progresso Chicken and Pearl Pasta soup with added light and dark meat chicken, chicken stock, garlic, and chervil. It was enjoyed with a fruity 1999 Mascarello Barolo Monpriato - cork lightly colored about a third; rich, dark, tarry cherry-berry fruit; adequate acidity, with a complex fruity, flowery finish.

Then for dessert we finished the last half of the 1979 Calera Zinfandel with a shared Chocolate Maven Belgian Chocolate Brownie. The zin was very good with the rich brownie; much better than with cheeses, raisins and nuts.
