Tonight’s supper was a rich chicken, noodle, carrot, celery, garlic & onion soup. (Carollee’s recovering from a slight cold). The rich garlicky chicken stock and soup ingredients were nicely accompanied by a 2008 Vietti Roero Arneis - pale yellow in color; rich nose & flavors of complex, flowery white fruits, with a slightly spritzy acidity; rich full-bodied mid-palate of fruit and bracing acidity; with a long complex fruit finish. The fruit and the acidity were a good match for the rich soup. An enjoyable meal on a perfectly clear (no clouds, anywhere) day where the daytime temps never got out of the 50sF.
