Chicken & Green Chile Cream Soup with Older Moselle Wine

Last night for dinner we had Progresso creamy chicken and wild rice soup with added light and dark meat chicken and the broth from our last batch of green chile chicken legs. Sitting a while in the refrigerator had made it fairly hot. It was very good with a 1985 Laurentiushof Trittenheimer Leiterchen Riesling Auslese from the Mösel - fill just below the capsule, medium yellow gold in color; good secondary and tertiary spicy green apple and pear fruit, with good acidity, no oxidation, and a rich light sweetness; with a long, complex fruity finish. It was very enjoyable with the spicy and rich soup.

Then for dessert, since we’d only had one bowl of the soup, we had St. André, double cream Brie, and Affinois Goat Brie cheeses, with raisins and crackers. The cheeses et al we enjoyed with a 2002 Ridge Buchignani Ranch Zinfandel - fill a half inch down fro the capsule, dark ruby in color; good rich dark berry and currant fruit, with adequate acidity and resolved tannins; with a medium long berry fruit finish. It made an enjoyable finish to a nice meal.
