I’m afraid you did, Serge. Despite its reputation for steak, there are no great steak houses in Chicago. Many many better places than where you went, I’m afraid.
there is only one restaurant on your list that I would even think of going to and that is Naha…a great lunch… Michael and Carrie Nahabedian, who run the place, are the tops and the place is great… as for the others, they wouldn’t be on my radar if I were starving… good places, off the top of my head…
blackbird, nomi, avec, bristol, mado, alinea, L20, custom house, cafe des architectes, 160 blue, publican, terzo piano, spiaggia, cibo matto, schwa, katsu, sepia, province, the gage, boka, perennial… ok, I am done…
Scott’s list is excellent … I would add Topolobampo to that. A marvelous place. I would add a note of caution on Custom House because it’s been rather inconsistent the last several months.
will be there saturday night and some how have to narrow down to one restaurant. Of course once again Hot Doug’s is closed for vacation when i am in town
Oh for sure … I actually have become someone who won’t pay my own cash money for a steak out because I much, much prefer the results I can get at home. So many places don’t even live up to Costco prime, in my estimation. Very good thing to point out!
