Piggybacking on what David wrote, Les Nomades requires gents to wear a jacket. And Thursday is free corkage.

Very cool, thank you for the suggestions.

Ate at RPM in November while at a conference. Off the charts good. The bar has great chemistry going on for drinks. The appetizers were so good, we did some of them twice. The steak - yeow! We did wine by the glass and nothing particularly noteworthy. I would have liked to BYOB but wasn’t up for flying a pair in.

We have taken advantage of Les Nomades no corkage Thursday a few times. Old school French feeling type of place that does indeed require a jacket. We love Blackbird and allow corkage but it can get really loud. The Sepia rec is very solid rec and we love Boka, too.

San Soo Gab San is opening a second location at 401 N. Milwaukee, roughly a 2m walk from my house.

Nice

I watched the documentary 42 Grams on my way back from Taiwan today. I found it pretty entertaining. I had no prior knowledge of the people or story. Does anyone have any more insight on what led to the sudden closure?

I’m not sure if this article has been posted on what he’s doing now (Konro popup):

I heard that is was a financial/divorce situation.

I heard divorce too.

First stop at Steingold’s deli today. Their Sister-in-Law is sick. Wagyu pastrami, dill kimchi and spicy Chinese mustard on Publican baguette served warm. Definitely cracked into my top 5 sandwiches in the city

Wagyu pastrami? Sign me up.

Not convinced it’s wagyu wagyu and it’s not the most mind blowing pastrami (one has to have some fat, doesn’t one?), but the sandwich so works

We had the pastrami a few months ago, and could not detect any flavor other than overwhelming (and lingering) smoke. Ixnay.

Not the case with yeaterday’s Does need more spice

Was super happy to read this lovely review of Georges Trois.

The slightest pressure from my fork transforms a creamy white orb of poached quail egg into a golden burst of sunlight exploding on the horizon, yellow dissolving into the lush caviar darkness. Pan out to this composition’s frame, a crisp potato nest anchored to a shiny black plate with a luscious moon of truffled celery root soubise. And … scene.

This was the opener at my recent meal at George Trois. Before I even took a bite, I was in awe. By the time the flavors unfolded—clean, decadent, and wintry all at once—I was in love…

That’s why I believe chef-owner Michael Lachowicz has done something special at George Trois, which opened in the fall of 2015… I did not expect to be saying this in the year 2018, but the best restaurant I’ve been to in ages is French.

I’ll be in Chicago in a week. Anything new worth trying?

I’m mostly interested in places I can sit at the bar and enjoy good food & drink after work. No need for BYOB.

Recently I’ve enjoyed Elske and The Loyalist.

RPM Italian, thoughts? Need a good place before Hamilton on Saturday night
