I know some of you guys use volumetric flasks for storage and Erlenmeyers for decants. Any recommendations as to from where to obtain these?
Amazon is easy.
That’s what I figured. Just wanted to check to see if there was something else out there.
Try sending a PM to Walter White.
Any advantage of using those other than their more reasonable price ?
KC - They look cool to chemistry geeks!
I used Amazon.
dishwasher safe, easy to clean
Amazon is probably easiest but Fisher Scientific, VWR, and maybe USA Scientific are options.
Quite a savings! List price $296.14 - your price $15.95.
And folks - go with the 2L instead of the 1L for decanting of 750 ml bottles. More headspace; easy to swirly; looks a lot more impressive
Cheers!
Just about to pull the trigger on the one the 1 L one. It does look a tad bit small for a750 Btl. Will go with the 2L instead. Thanks
The 1L isn’t bad, but the 2L just gives you more headspace - and more options! These are big enough to decant Mags into if you’d like . . .
Have fun - and enjoy the simplicity of cleaning, etc!
For wine tastings, think about getting smaller ones and use these for ‘measured pours’ or ‘by the glass’ within your own home. I know - sounds geeky - but it’s fun!
Cheers!
What size would you consider for someone looking for measured pours?
Before we know it people are going to start using pipettes for measured pours. Über geeky!
A good metric tasting pour might be 75ml: 10 tastings per 750ml and just over 2½ ounces…
I thought everyone used something like this for measured pours:
How about this 100ml pipette, which should allow removal of the wine from the bottle without pouring or tipping and is accurate to 0.08ml.
The wine thief bottle sized!
Personally, I like Florence flasks better than Erlenmeyers.
