at Disneyland, of all places!!!
The family went to California Adventure today (the OTHER Disneyland, the one with cool rides) and I saw that the Food and Wine festival was still running. I checked out the daily schedule, and saw that Scherrer Winery was doing a showcase at 3:00 p.m. - it was 3:30, so I booked over there while the family went to one of the rides - I had to see if I could catch him.
The event was over, but I caught him before he took off and we had a great chat. I’ve talked with him on the phone and via email many times as a big fan of his wines (particularly OMV Zinfandel), but never in person, so it was a way to really put my Disneyland adventure on a super hectic day into an ‘all time greatest’ category.
Fred rules!!
That’s awesome!! Made a trip to Disneyland even better! [d_sunny.gif]
Got to meet Fred a few years ago for a tour of his facility. What a super-nice, down-to-earth, modest guy, and great wines.
Fred as Super-Hero…interesting concept… though it was Disneyland!!!
The '07 Zins are awesome… I bought a mixed case… unbelievable buy… Next year it will be two! Hey… maybe Fred IS a super hero!!
Does this mean we can organize an offline in the interior of one of the parks?
Fred makes great wines. I am a big fan. I have yet to meet him in person but he seems quite nice from is emails. My friend Damien Casten distributes Fred’s wines in Illinois. If you go to the Candid Wines website and check out the “ask a winemaker” section you will find some video interviews with Fred.

Gosh. At first I thought that maybe we had spoken recently and I had forgotten about it. [gheyfight.gif]
It is well worth it to go see Fred in the winery and get the full Fred experience - great guy and great winemaker!
I’m a pretty big fan of German Riesling (2nd biggest holding after Bordeaux). Anyway… A few weeks ago I “bumped” into Johannes Selbach at one of my local wine stores. Had a great conversation, shared some wines, etc. Serendipity is a great thing!
Awesome! Serendipity is underrated!
