ChatGPT tasting notes 'in the style of' certain Berserkers

It hasn’t trained on Tom’s syntax. Fortunately.

How did you pose the question to the AI bot?

“write a tasting note about an unusual bottle of Silvaner in the style of David_Strange for the Wine Talk subforum of Wine Berserkers”

“write a post for the Wine Talk subforum of Wine Berserkers in the style of Otto_Forsberg”

That’s pretty great

It will be interesting to see what happens when retail outlets post Robert Parker , or Dunnick’s shelf talkers, via AI on wines they have never tasted or rated. Use Suckling’s name and every wine is a 95+!

What should shoppers believe?

My man!!! Now we’re talking!! Spot on Chat…spot on!!

2019 Château Margaux, Margaux

This is breathtaking. The purity of fruit is astounding—blackcurrants, violets, graphite, and crushed stones leap from the glass with incredible precision. Full-bodied yet effortless, with ultra-fine tannins that glide like silk across the palate. It’s layered and dense, but also graceful, with an energy and brightness that elevate it to another level. The finish goes on for minutes—serious length, with finesse and power in perfect harmony. This is Margaux at its absolute best, a wine that redefines elegance and tension. Drinkable now, but will age beautifully for decades.

– James Suckling

I asked it to write one of my Crypt notes and it ended up like Davey Strange writing tasting notes for wines in Game of Thrones!

If anyone can do this using the style of The Gilded Sage’s tasting notes on CellarTracker, I’d definitely be a reader. If you haven’t ever read his notes on CellarTracker, you are missing out on some of the most entertaining notes ever written.

As ever with AI I find all this very unconvincing-it’s something to do with the rhythm of sentences and punctuation.
I’m quite glad about that!

They do have a tendency to sound like college freshman papers. Which is probably why AI-generated college papers are such a problem these days.

Fortunately, the muse evades me. I have not written anything since the start of the year.
