Lovely TNs.

I love the following text : *****at absolute prime with a more Burgundian nose with red cherry fruit, *****

The abvoe …should be included in the Tread : Bordeaux tasted like Burgundy ?

Your well written TNs is very enjoyable for me to read them again and again. It brings tears to my eyes…and stirred up my memory.

I tried to look up for my TNs when I first started my wine life but it appears that I did not keep them.

My heart to Bordeaux wines still belongs to 1986 Mouton - slightly more than to 1982.

My best memory for Mouton was to compare ( for a few time ) side-by-side : Mouton 1985 vs Sassicaia 1985 : under the Title : Is Parker Right ? The result was …Mr. Parker was right !!

Some thoughts on this dinner after having some time for reflection:

This dinner was one of those unique ones in which every single flight had at least one vote for each wine as the best of the flight with the exception of the corked 1980 LdH. This was absolutely not how Saturday turned out, where the best wine of each flight was reasonably clear except for the second champagne flight. This speaks to the overall quality of the wines and how well they were showing.

The 82 Bordeaux flight was my favorite of the entire weekend, possibly surprising given that I mostly only drink Burgundy, but from an intellectual perspective it was so interesting and fun. I only wish we had a few more hours with the wines, as they were so great, drinking so well, and so different.

The Ruchottes flight was a really good look at the vineyard with the exception of Roumier, and the comparison between the young and new vine Ruchottes from MG was really fun.

The Cedric Bouchard vertical was a fun way to look at champagne and it was a nice counterpoint to the horizontals we did on Saturday.

The food was superb and paired nicely with the wines. There were some logistical challenges for this dinner but it ended up again being a highlight of the weekend, a very special event.

Love to hear and read your thoughts MChang regarding 1982 Bordeaux.

1970s was a so-so 10 period for any Bordeaux wine drinker ( with the except for 1975). 1980s was - in my 2 cents - my gold years for all Bordeaux lovers. Needless to say Parker made the right call for his assessment on 1982 Bordeaux and then he became the King.

I am now a died-heart red burgundy drinker, mainly, due to the fact that red burgundy wine brings …for excitement and complexity as it aged. The transformation phase of the range of its metamorphoses is so UN-predictable - including LT.

Whereas the range of its metamorphoses for any Bordeaux wine will remain there for a long time as it aged. For example, 1982 Mouton and 1986 Mouton …will always behave the same as my beautifully wife since our marriage.
