Champagne Guys...Take A Look At This List

Private offering of these wines at or below current WS low prices with no tax or shipping, so the all in price is attractive. Any thoughts on something to go after? TIA.

1985 Dom Perignon
1988 Lanson 1.5L
1990 Bollinger Grand Ainee
1990 Lanson 1.5L
1995 Taittinger, Compte de Champagne BDB
1996 La Grande Dame
1996 Taittinger, Compte de Champagne

DP and the two CdC’s for sure.

Bolly if enough below mkt

The others if way below mkt

Thanks Ray. None of these are “well” below market, but the lack of shipping and taxes does erode away a bit of cost.

I will probably take your advice for the DP and CdC as I would like to have some older vintage bubbles on hand for special occasions…like Popeye’s Fried Chicken night. newhere

Tex, I fondly remember the 85 DP. It was a terrific bottle. Wasted mine on some ex women that were not worthy of the experience. pileon

Nice.

Key issue is provenance, even more so with champagne. Assuming that’s good, 85 DP is awesome.

Dan, agreed on provenance. I have confidence in both the seller and cellar.

You drank them with transexuals? Very modern of you. [tease.gif]

1985 DP and those Comtes rock, I love those. As others have said, provenance is key here.

The 96 Comtes is going through a horrible sulphur stage right now–do not open. Hope with time that will go away.

I’ll pretty much echo the others. In order, I would consider:

  • 95 Comtes
  • 85 Dom P
  • 96 Comtes
  • 90 Bolly
  • 88 Lanson Mag

The 88 Lanson Mag is interesting and depending on price could move ahead of the Bolly.

Hey Bill what is the 85 DP running? I’m hitting a quarter century in May and need something with which to celebrate.

someone younger than me!? unbelievable

The '90 Bollinger is probably a winner. The Lansons depend upon which label.

+1

Only one bottle and it is $240 all in.
