Champagne flutes - buying advice

Flutes are my least favorite glasses, but if you must, another vote for Glasvin.

My Champagne glasses are by Lehmann. Their less expensive ones (which I have) should be about $10-15 per glass but I think they make a higher end one as well. Very nice tulip shaped glass. As others have said, I am not really a fan of flutes.

And, to be honest, I often drink Champagne out of my Burgundy glasses (pinot noir and chardonnay, after all).

While we have certainly been known to taste serious champagnes in white wine glasses, there is something festive about toasting a special moment with a flute or coupe even if it doesn’t offer the “proper” nose. To that end, here are two we have and enjoy using that would be very suited as a wedding gift:

  • Baccarat Montaigne Optic Flute (we have a set of 8 and it’s our go-to for a group toast)
  • Lalique 100 Points Coupe (only have two of these… they are MUCH less practical, but quite festive)

If you want something very special and unique!

We have these and every time we drink champagne we bring these out.

I promise if you give these they will remember you forever!

Gabriel gold.

To me, a flute is fine if I am drinking a less expensive Champagne, but if I am drinking something better, I want to emphasize how the wine smells and tastes and not that it has bubbles.

Lehman Jamesse Grand Champagne, Prestige (450ml mouth blown) or not (410ml machine made), depending on budget.

I have Grassl champagne stems and enjoy them, but a better story and a neater glass is the Glassvin champagne stem, which was designed by fellow berserker Adri@n So. They are atypical in size, and a beautiful design. Classy, elegant, and will be a little unique in the cabinet.

That’s my recommendation.

I use Nude Zero Grand Cru Champagne glasses… they have a pretty wide bowl, very sturdy, but also impossibly thin.

I finally used the Glassvin Champagne glass this weekend and they were really nice. More impressively, a breeze knocked a box of crackers into the glass and the glass fell about 2 feet onto our terrace and it survived without a scratch! I thought it was for sure a goner.
