I tasted the Cecile Tremblay 2010 version of this wine at the London EP tastings last week and was intrigued as I had never heard of this 1er cru before. It’s not shown on the atlas vins maps of chambolle, there’s no cabottes listed on the burghound database and the only CM cabottes that comes up for any vintage at all on wine-searcher is the Tremblay 2009. Does anyone know anything about the vineyard?
A “Cabotte” is a stone hut in a vineyard. I wonder if there is some confusion and this is actually not the vineyard name but a cuvee name. Ponsot does this with alot of his wines. For example “Cuvée des Alouettes”.
I searched everywhere and this does not seem to be an official vineyard name.
I’m pretty sure there isnt a Cabottes lieu-dit in Chambolle. Looking at the link, it doesn’t state any lieux-dits it is sourced from, it simply has the “Cabottes” in the name. I think it is basically a cuvee name. Maybe I am wrong but that is what it looks like.
sent a quick email to peter weygandt to help answer the question and as mentioned above the fruit is sourced from three parcels in Chambolle, two of which adjoin premier cru sites - the name was selected by Cecile for this wine.
i also went into CT and requested an edit be made to the entry removing the 1er from name.
Latuchie is correct. (Are you still on our payroll?) And I have a little bit left–edit (a little '09 left. Haven’t received our '10s yet). PM me if interested.
