Chablis for Idiots

I concur. I had the 2011 Servin Bougros just this afternoon. GC Chablis that can be had for around $50. It was very clean and lively, but it would have benefited from several more years in the bottle!

Welcome to the board.

Welcome, David! Though I will quibble with you a bit on this. Agree about 2009, it was a warmer year, so the wines are not “classic” in that sense, but still very pleasurable. I do think 2010 was a great year in Chablis, and 2012 is as good or better, from what I’ve tasted so far. 2011, on the other hand, suffered from some problems, and a lot of the wines have a kind of underripe raw quality (ironically, not from a too cold vintage, but from a relatively warm vintage, and then early picking to avoid rains and rot).

Glad to have you, but IMO '10 smokes '11. I like '12 too. '08, '10 and’12 all quite good. I find '11 a bit round. Not overripe as much as insufficient acids.
