FWIW, the reason barcodes are important to me is that I do want to keep track of where things are in my cellar (which crate in my offsite, and which slot in my wine coolers). Prior to using barcodes, I frequently would have problems where I’d have multiple bottles of something in different locations, and I’d accidentally remove the wrong one from CT then later go to find it, discover it was gone, mark it as “missing” and my entire inventory gradually became inaccurate. But if you don’t care about tracking location, I’m not sure it’s worth the trouble.
Agree. It’s rare that I get a positive surprise, most of the time they’re negative surprises.
