I don’t have an 1800XTS, but I have a 1800QT which I am very happy with. It is being used in a credenza cabinet inside our house. I was a little nervous about the noise, but it is fine. I had considered a QTL (because of noise) and a XT (for more cooling), but what I have seems to work well for me. I found the salespeople at Cellarpro very helpful with my questions.
I have 2 in my lecache cabinets that are in my garage. I live in Southern CA and they have been performing great for years. No problem cooling when ambient temperature are 85+
Cheers,
JF
Keeps my 5x8x6.5 (~R15) insulated closet very nicely. Two years since installation and not a single problem.
Yes, I bought and installed the 1800XTS about 2 mos ago, as a pro-active move on my 15yr old Vinotemp CellarMate. The CellarPro folks were excellent people to deal with.
One weird thing did happen. I’m in SoCal and the unit is in the garage. During the last major heat wave, I noticed the filter and frame was hanging away from the cooler itself. (The aluminum frame on the filter attaches to the back of the cooler with magnetic strips on one side, and adhesive on the other.) The cooler and/or ambient temperature had apparently gotten hot enough to pull loose on the adhesive side. I was able to reach in with a long-handled grabber to retrieve the filter/frame, but now can’t get it back on the cooler. It’s just too tight of access with the Vinotemp being only 3" from the wall.
2.5 years and no issues so far. Runs like a top. Mine cycles about 3 times per hour in a 6x8x7 room.
I bought the ducting kit (additional charge) to send heated exhaust outside. You’ll need to purchase mounting clips (additional charge) for support on the inside of the cellar (if your design needs it).
I like the 5 year warranty.
It’s a very quiet unit. Have not experienced the adhesive issue Eric mentioned above.
The support staff has been great. I wanted to make sure I set it up correctly on the first startup, and they were patient and willing to help. I feel confident that if the unit fails under warranty, I will have a unit to my door the next day.
So far, I am pleased, but ask me when the unit finally goes out
I installed the 1800 XT as a replacement for my large cabinet. It has functioned perfectly for 10 months.
I’ve used the 1800 QT to cool my converted closet for about 2.5 years and it has performed without issue. It’s not as quiet as an ordinary refrigerator when it runs, but if your cellar/cooler is in an isolated area this should not be a factor.
