Cellar is Full. Passing on all allocations. Strange feelings

Thanks for this Howard. I’ll reach out and see what they’re thoughts are. It’s interesting that their American team is in Beaverton.

Marcus, I have had them ship to me for years, but until your post I had never thought about them in connection with Oregon wines. I have wished they operated in Bordeaux and other European regions, see below why, but never thought of them with respect to domestic wines.

Part of of the attractiveness of using them in Burgundy does not apply here. If one buys 6 bottles or more through them, they will pick up the wine from the winery, store, etc., and one does not have to pay VAT on the wine. Can make the cost of using them to be net negative.

That won’t apply in your case but still I can see consolidation benefits. Good luck.

Yep. Letting go of the new (champagne excepted). I’ve got boxes of wine in my house that won’t fit in the cellar.

Had itchy fingers for Aubert and Occidental, but held strong.

Tempted when the Scarecrow allocation drops… but that $2,000 price tag will bring me back to reality.

I have several boxes of wine from Berserker Day two years ago that I have yet to open. Talk about strange feelings…

I’m sure they are fine and will provide a strong base for what you put on top of them

Yeah. Like purchases from the next Berserker Day?

If that’s the case, maybe put the older ones on top

I’ve cut way way back on lists and am really only still purchasing from a fraction of what I was even a couple of years ago. I’m in my mid-50s and am at a point where I’m drinking a bit less, and - like most of us- simply don’t need more wine.

That being said, I did have to bite on the Carlisle release yesterday. The opportunities to purchase Mike’s wines are narrowing to zero very soon.

Interesting point. We are all getting older. And so are our favorite wine makers.

Nailed it, Greg. Backed up the proverbial truck, purchasing every bottle offered, plus Mike promptly replied to email regarding potential Wish List bottles. Sad though thankful discovered Carlisle years ago.

I max bought all the reds, or at least I think I did and wish listed. I also ordered magnums though so not sure if I will get extras but would gladly take them.

Carlisle is by far our #1 winery in the cellar and it is going to be tough to replace this style of wine. Fortunately Bedrock and others make great zinfandel blends and we can move some buying back over to Morgan and Chris.

Where is the option to buy mags? Ive been on the list for 15 years…never seen a mag.

Email Mike and ask. He’s got them.

Funny that there is no thread on Scarecrow…. used to be big discussion annually. Pending seeing the offer I am considering

Love this!

I bought it from 2005 until last year. I think that I bailed last year because I have over 30 bottles left and at y age, that’s too many. My kids will not be happy. The same may be true with SQN. But you can, as is said, pry my MacDonald spot on the list from my cold dead fingers as you lower me into the box. Because my kids want it.

I am tempted to buy the 2021Scarecrow. I’m also waiting to see if Bevan has a blowout sale on Absurdity

Then BerserkerDay Preview Day happened.

31 37 46 56 bottles and a Magnum later I’m wondering what the hell is wrong with me.

Happens every year. Just gotta ride with it.
At least you took the time to count the number of bottles.
