Carlisle Hunter: 2003-2009 Zin/syrah @ K&L Wines

I cant remember ever seeing this much Carlisle at retail all at once. There are close to 60 different wines; zinfandel and syrah from 2003 to 2009. Most prices look to be pretty close to the original release prices so there are some good deals to be had. I grabbed the last three bottles of 2007 RRV Syrah, my favorite!

I bought 2+ cases of 2005 vintage at winery release, then dropped off list. Looks like prices at K & L are very close to release prices from Carlisle way back when. If you like the wine (I liked most of the wines I have tried) then this looks like a great deal.

2 weeks ago I “had” to go there and pick up a case of '02 Joe Swan Mancini Zin they were thowing onto the street for $16 per. Such a hard drive… [cheers.gif]

It feels weird to be on a 4+ year waiting list for these while they pop up at retail at these prices.

I’ll step in here and let you know if the wines are 2003-2008, they most likely came from me - I shipped them off to K&L this past Monday. I was a fairly early list member, but I stopped buying about a year and a half ago - and only a case of the 2008s. I (and esp. my wife) have really moved away from this style, and with over 150 bottles in the cellar we were never going to drink all these, and frankly needed the space.

I can assure you as to the provenance - I personally picked up all but the 2008s at the release parties over the years, and they went straight to my home cellar, or offsite. I did move them from San Fran to Seattle in late October 2009.

I am way, way too busy to sell these willy-nilly on Commerce Corner where frankly, I would have listed them at release prices anyway - if not the pre-release prices I paid. We found the WineBid sellers agreement to be something that we would not sign - have any of you actually read that thing? K&L made a more than fair offer, and i’m glad to see apparently are not gouging folks. So enjoy them!

Oh, and there were a few cases each of Turley, Sea Smoke, and Siduri and a smattering of other things as well.

Good to know Jim and thanks Tyler for posting this. Good opportunity for fans to backfill at great prices, especially given the 2010 burn is going to make for some lean allocations next year. I went in for a mixed case.

Good for you man, I should probably do the same with mine. I’m sitting on about 4 cases going back to '05 and have really never been wow’d by any of them. I kept thinking maybe they just need some time, but have now come to realize Carlisle is just not my thing anymore.

There will be at least one spot opening on the list next release.
