This will be a legendary wine as the old vines deep roots have handled the heat and the drought of 2012 well but this will require a lot of patience Kelly, your children will thank you.
The days of $200 Jadot Bonnes Mares are long gone, new releases are now $350-400. Not Roumier but definitely high end where the Jadot Nuits were once a bargain
I had two of those wines with you in the past year and I found both the 1985 Amoureuses and the 1990 Bonnes Mares to be too young and tight even after an hour of air.
2018 Louis Jadot Pouilly Fuisse (Burgundy - Maconnais, France)
2016 Louis Jadot Chassagne Montrachet Premier Cru Morgeot Clos de la Chapelle Domaine du Duc de Magenta (Burgundy - Cote de Beaune, France)
2015 Louis Jadot Chateau des Jacques Moulin-a-Vent Clos des Rochegres (Beaujolais, France)
2016 Louis Jadot Beaune Greves Premier Cru (Burgundy - Cote de Beaune, France)
2016 Louis Jadot Beaune Boucherottes Premier Cru (Burgundy - Cote de Beaune, France)
2016 Louis Jadot Volnay Clos de la Barre Monopole Premier Cru (Burgundy - Cote de Beaune, France)
2016 Jadot Gevrey Chambertin Les Cazetiers Premier Cru (Burgundy - Cote de Nuits, France)
Taking the opportunity of this thread to see if some berserkers have some experiences with the bottles below that I have just acquired. I don’t have any experience with Jadot yet but had the opportunity to buy at a “cheap” (ie compared to usual bottle prices, not ni absolute terms) from the Domaine.
I’m especially wondering if it’s absurd to want to open the two 2007 Grand Cru or not. I think I’ll be patient with both 2012 (and Meursault 2017 of course) and taste the Clos des Ursules 09 and Bressandes 14
Since we’re talking Jadot here, any thoughts on drink dates for the following? I feel like on Burgundy, CT isn’t great for dates, for example, I can’t imagine that that Beaux Monts is nearing the END of its drinking window
2010 Bonnes Mares
2009 NSG 1er Boudots
2008 GC 1er Clos St Jacques
2008 Vosne 1er Beaux Monts
I cannot remember how specifically this has been stated on this thread but Jadot is a huge vineyard owner in Burgundy as well as a negociant. Jadot has long owned land in the Cotes de Beaune and in the 1980s bought an estate called Clair Dau with major holdings in the Cotes du Nuits. Many people have long thought that their best wines come from the vineyards they own. I cannot say I have ever really done a big study of this, but certainly some wines I have enjoyed over the years like Beaune Ursules, GC Clos St. Jacques and Corton Peugets have come from vineyards they own.
I can only speak to the 2008 Clos St Jacques, which I had once about 5 years ago. I would give it at least another few years. Haven’t had the 2009 Nuits Boudots, but in that ripe vintage it should be good (correct provenance blahblahblah) from now for another decade.
