Opened and poured and it needed to warm up from 50 def F cellar temps (brrrr).
Initial nose has a bit of iron/mineral but it was hidden as the wine warmed and the fruit opened up. This wine was yummy. Infused with bright cherry and vanilla with a touch of spice. The wine got better as the night wore on. The fruit nose began to get more complex and developed a perfume of kirsch blended with vanilla wafers and a sprig of mint. Very cool nose…loved it. On the palate the wine is rich cherry with vanilla (at one point the oak seemed to stick out, but the fruit continued to push forward and you get the creamy vanilla vice wood chip impression). This so reminded me of another Sonoma favorite, Chateau Souverain. Glad I have more of this as it will likely improve with some age (2-5 years).
