in for 2
Yea. I’m done with under 14.2 (ish). I’ve had some hits but more misses in that low abv. (It’s only a few… All from the 400+ lots of dn, 430, and 550 come to mind). In this case I need an abv to help me decide which offers I’ll bite on since there seem to be so many in the horizon.
Re explanations to my wife: I set it up but pointing out how few 2020-22 offers I had bought and telling her I’d likely buy more cases of 2023 bc of it being such a great year….and at this point I’ve gotten her more 2023 chards than I’ve bought reds.
Does anyone know what the ABV is for lot 3?
14.8% per the Wine VIP site
Thanks! Completely missed that.
Jamie are you from great Britain?
I am pretty sure it was recently added (wasn’t there half an hour ago)
Can we take up a collection to rebuild the CAM X portion of winevip site ? Their checkout process is painful - esp since they will remember EVERY piece of data EXCEPT birth date and that feature is perhaps the worst method ever.
Their site is not ready for prime time and the sooner Cam is off this clunker, the better off we all will be.
The last few vintages of Bell Reserve have been 14.9% - seems the best fit so far
I didn’t pop on Lot 10 but this Lot 3 seems like a no brainer to pick up at that price point.
Alpha Omega Cab/ERA is also a multi vineyard bordeaux blend with the cab fitting price point. Maybe another potential option.
winevip web site is the worst…
I agree that Bell Wine Cellars might be a good fit, but what gives me pause is twofold. First, Cam said that he’s bought from the producer a lot before. I don’t remember the name Bell coming up before.
Second, all three of the recent previous reserve Cabs contain wine from the following AVA’s:
“The 2021 vintage of the Reserve Cabernet is a blend of vineyards located in the St. Helena, Rutherford, Mount Veeder, Yountville, and Howell Mountain appellations.”
Using Coombsville as an example, if the winemaker did have a “best barrel” of Coombsville Cabernet that did not go into this bottling, he would put it into his other bottles.
Alpha Omega on the other hand, has been a regular source guess previous lines. But the $100 price point does not line up with their reserve bottling!
Bell’s website talks about the Coombsville vineyard they pull from having being planted only in 2016. Speculation for sure, but vines may have been too young to go into prior iterations…but they certainly have access to the Coombsville fruit to make it a strong possibility. I’ve never seen AO focus on clone selection, so that’s a complete ‘miss’ for me.
Someone knows something! Or at least loves to throw darts!
Huh. Those are some…guesses. Did anyone here think Lot 10 was Ovid?
I believe dN lot 213 was speculated to be one of the Bell single clone cabs. To be, it still seems like the best fit here for Lot 3. Not sure I understand the Clos du Val guess.
Good call-out…I don’t think I agree with a single one of these CamXCellars source guesses.
They give you an option to ship 2nd week of Oct without charge, but then the $5 option says store it in our cellar until Oct to keep your wine safe?
If I don’t pay the $5 do they store it out in the back shed all summer?
Interesting I didn’t catch onto that before. Are you saying just change the ship after date to sometime in October and it’ll will store free until sometime in October, without paying the five dollars?
